People Also Ask is the accordion of related questions Google shows in the results, each expanding to a short extracted answer with a source link. It reflects the questions Google associates with the original query, drawn from real search behavior, which makes it one of the best free windows into how people actually think about a topic and what sub-questions matter.
For content strategy, PAA is a goldmine. The questions reveal the specific sub-intents around a topic, the natural-language phrasings people use, and adjacent questions worth covering. Building content that explicitly answers the PAA questions for your target topic, each as a clear question heading with a tight answer, both captures the PAA slots (which link back to your page) and structures the content for featured snippets and AI extraction simultaneously.
PAA answers are extracted the same way featured snippets are, so the same passage discipline applies: question-shaped heading, immediate concise answer, supporting detail after. Because PAA expands dynamically and the question set shifts, it is also a live signal of how a topic's intent is evolving. We use PAA-style question mining as part of surfacing the real question set a topic should cover.
