State-bar disclosure footer

A site-wide footer that states who is responsible for the firm's advertising, where its attorneys are admitted, and any disclaimer the state's advertising rules require.

Every state regulates lawyer advertising through its rules of professional conduct, and a firm website is advertising. ABA Model Rule 7.2 requires that any communication about a lawyer's services include the name and contact information of at least one lawyer or firm responsible for its content. States layer their own requirements on top: New York, for example, requires the label "Attorney Advertising" on many communications and a prior-results disclaimer where outcomes are described, and other states have their own specialization and testimonial rules.

A state-bar disclosure footer puts that compliance in one predictable place: the responsible attorney, office addresses, the jurisdictions each attorney is admitted in, any required advertising label, a no-attorney-client-relationship disclaimer for contact forms, and links to each attorney's state-bar profile. It is not a substitute for checking the rules of every state you advertise in; your ethics counsel decides the exact wording.

The search benefit is a side effect of the compliance benefit. Admissions linked to bar records give search engines and AI systems a verifiable trust signal on a YMYL topic, and the same links make strong sameAs targets in attorney Person markup. Our audit checks that the footer exists, that admissions are stated, and that bar-profile links resolve.
