LegalService schema
The schema.org type for a law firm or legal practice. It tells search engines and AI systems what the firm does, where it serves, and which attorneys stand behind it.

LegalService is a schema.org subtype of LocalBusiness that describes "a business that provides legally-oriented services, advice and representation". It is the right type for a law firm's homepage and office pages. schema.org also defines an Attorney type, but marks it as superseded: LegalService is the more inclusive choice, and individual lawyers are better described as Person entities.
A useful LegalService block carries the firm name, url, logo, telephone, a full PostalAddress per office, areaServed naming the cities or counties you actually take matters in, and openingHoursSpecification. Practice areas belong in knowsAbout or in an OfferCatalog of Service items with specific serviceType values ("Personal injury", "Family law", "Immigration"). Each attorney gets a Person block with jobTitle, alumniOf, and sameAs links to the state-bar profile and the major directory profiles, connected to the firm through employee or member.
Two honest caveats. Google does not show a special rich result for LegalService, so the payoff is entity understanding and AI citation eligibility, not a SERP decoration. And the markup must match what is visible on the page; aggregateRating copied from a third-party site violates Google's structured data policies. Our audit validates the block, checks the attorney entity links, and flags markup that claims more than the page shows.
