Near me search
A query with implicit or explicit local intent ("plumber near me") that Google answers using the searcher's location and the local pack.

A near me search is a query where the searcher wants a nearby option. The phrase "near me" may be explicit, but the intent is just as often implicit: "emergency dentist", "best tacos", or "personal injury lawyer" carry local intent even without the words. Google detects this intent and answers with location-personalized results led by the local pack and Maps.
The defining feature is personalization by location. There is no single ranking for a near me query; the results depend on where the searcher is, so two people in the same city can see different businesses. This is why measuring near me visibility requires simulating the query from multiple locations, a grid of points across the service area, rather than checking a single position. A business can dominate near its location and be invisible a few miles away.
Winning near me searches is the sum of the local fundamentals: a complete, correctly-categorized Google Business Profile, consistent citations, review velocity, proximity (which you cannot change, but service-area and multi-location strategy can address), and local content that establishes relevance for the specific service and area. We simulate near me rank from a configurable set of locations so the geographic shape of a business's visibility is visible, not averaged away.
