llms.txt: why we do not score it
We never score llms.txt and never recommend adding one. Google says you do not need AI text files to appear in its AI features, and no major answer engine has said llms.txt affects citations.

What this check measures
Nothing on your site. This finding exists so the report states our position: llms.txt is not an AI search lever. We do not fetch /llms.txt.
Why it matters
Google's AI features page says: "You don't need to create new machine readable files, AI text files, or markup to appear in these features." No major answer engine has published that llms.txt changes whether a page is cited. Publishing one is harmless; spending time on it instead of crawl access, clear passages and accurate structured data is the cost.
How we score it
Never scored, never in the action plan, never a recommendation. The finding is informational whether or not the file exists.
Confidence-flag rules
HIGH. The finding states a documented position, not a measurement.
Common mistakes
- Treating llms.txt as a ranking or citation signal.
- Blocking AI crawlers in robots.txt while publishing an llms.txt for them.
- Spending time on llms.txt before the page itself answers buyer questions plainly.
How to fix it
Nothing to do. Put the time into the measured items in your report, starting with crawler access and the passages answer engines quote.
